The real story behind launching my podcast
So, I did a thing—I launched a podcast. 😅 Yup, Template Talks is live, and honestly, it’s been a mix of “OMG, this is amazing!” and “What have I gotten myself into?” (classic me). This podcast has been in my head for ages, but actually doing it? Whole different ballgame.
But hey, here I am. Mic in hand (okay, fine, it’s a budget Amazon find, but still), ready to share my story, my lessons, and my very unfiltered take on building a business while navigating life as a mom of three.
Let’s chat about why I started Template Talks, what I’ve learned along the way, and why podcasting feels like I just leveled up my entrepreneurial game.
Why I Started Template Talks
Here’s the tea: Instagram is fun and all, but it’s like a highlight reel on steroids. All polished wins and perfect captions, but where’s the late-night panic, the toddler interrupting Zoom calls, or the moment your Canva file just disappears? That’s where Template Talks comes in—a no-BS space to talk about the real stuff behind the scenes.🙃
My own story started during maternity leave. Picture me Googling, “how to make money from home,” one-handed while holding a baby. I went from dropshipping (meh) to selling digital coloring books (fun, but not scalable), and then I hit gold with PLR products. Now, I run Template for That and get to help other entrepreneurs do their thing. And believe me, it’s been a ride.
But the truth? Nobody talks enough about the messy moments: the “Is this even worth it?” days. And that’s why I hit record.
Why Podcasting?
I’ll admit, starting a podcast felt…intimidating. Like, who am I to do this? But then I thought, “Why not me?” Plus, let’s be real, podcasting has serious perks:
1. Getting Personal
There’s something about hearing someone’s voice, right? It’s way more personal than a caption or blog post. Through the podcast, I get to share my actual voice—the passion, the struggles, the occasional “ugh, why?” moments.
2. Real Talk with Cool People
One big goal for Template Talks is to have conversations with other entrepreneurs. Podcasting gives me an excuse (and a mic) to bring on amazing guests and pick their brains for both me and my listeners. Win-win.
3. Reaching More People
Not everyone’s on Instagram (shocking, I know). Podcasting opens the door to a whole new audience. Plus, it’s perfect for people like me who love multitasking—I’m basically your business BFF while you fold laundry.
4. The Credibility Glow-Up
Let’s call it like it is: Having a podcast makes you look like you’ve got your life together (even when you don’t). Sharing my lessons and insights through Template Talks lets me position myself as a go-to resource for entrepreneurs without feeling salesy.

Lessons learned along the way
Not gonna lie, this entrepreneurial journey has taught me more than I ever wanted to know about time, patience, and, well… chaos. Here are three big takeaways:
1. Progress Over Perfection
Fun fact: My first podcast episode was not perfect. Neither will the second. But you know what? I did it anyway. The key is to start. No one cares if your graphics aren’t designer-level or if you stutter a little—just show up.
2. Time is Your Best Friend (or Worst Enemy)
My life is basically one giant to-do list. Between kids, work, and everything else, I’ve learned the hard way that if you don’t manage your time, it will manage you. Tools like Trello and a good ol’ planner? Game changers.
3. Find Your People
Entrepreneurship can feel lonely. But connecting with others who “get it” has been a lifesaver. Whether it’s DMing fellow entrepreneurs or finding mentors, building a community is everything.
What to Expect from Template Talks
So, what’s the vibe of this podcast? Think of it as your coffee date with a friend who overshares about her business wins and fails. Each episode will bring:
- Real talk: The truth about entrepreneurship, no fluff.
- Actionable advice: Tips you can actually use.
- Guest interviews: Inspiring convos with industry pros.
- Shopify tips: Because I can’t stop geeking out about it.
If you’re into honest, relatable stories with a side of practical advice, you’ll feel right at home.
